2on When should the board exam accommodation paperwork start for a class 9 student?
Good that you're asking now rather than in class 10 ❤️ I'd go to whoever coordinates board registrations at his school and ask two direct questions: which documents they need from you, and by when. Ask them to put the date in an email. And if he isn't already getting the same accommodations in school exams this year, ask for that too, so the board exam isn't the first time he's using them.
0on Daycare cooks her food without salt and my in-laws think that's why she won't eat there
Ask them to tell you what she does eat there, not only how much. When mine were small I noticed the 'didn't eat' days were always the same two dishes. Hope the in-law debate settles down soon ❤
4on New flat in May and nursery in June? Thinking of Fr.Bendel English Medium School for our 3 year old
From my own two: small children get used to a new house far quicker than we do, usually within a couple of weeks. School is the bigger change of the two. If you can, move a few weeks before June rather than the week before, so he isn't doing both at once.
2on do the primary classes at little buds grammer in nallakunta go on any field trips
Also ask how they handle the permission note and who goes along. In my experience a school that sends a clear note a week ahead, with timings and what to pack, usually runs the day itself well too. Mine still talk about a zoo visit from their primary years ❤
0on 15 year old's glasses power went up again, and he's stopped wearing them in class
From the classroom side: a quiet word with the maths teacher can help. Not to police him, just so he's moved a row or two closer without it being announced. Students who squint usually get noticed eventually, and it's kinder if it's planned. He will likely get past the embarrassment faster than you expect 💛
1on Would St. Michaels in Alwal work for pre-nursery if the pickup parent works on that side?
I can't tell you St. Michaels' timings, that's really one for the school office. On the commute itself, from our side the Alwal stretch in the mornings is slower than the map suggests, more so around school opening time. For a two or three year old I'd plan around the morning drop, not just the pickup, because that's the harder half. Good that you're looking this early ♥
2on Class 7 daughter wants to drop maths tuition and study with a friend instead
I see a lot of this with older students. The pairs that work are the ones who decide in advance what they'll cover each session and check their answers against something, a key or the teacher, at least once a week. The pairs that drift are the ones who just 'study together'. Could you ask the two of them to write a simple plan for the first month and go over it with you each Sunday? You'll know within four weeks, well before any results ❤️
0on Are there any ICSE schools on the Vanasthalipuram side, or is it CBSE everywhere?
Looking back at our two, the board made almost no difference until about class 3. Distance made a difference every single day. If the ICSE options turn out to be forty minutes away, I'd think hard about that drive with a three year old. Lovely that you're starting early though ❤
0on Took my 13 year old to the gym once. Now he critiques my squats
This made me smile. Mine are a bit younger, but my son has started timing my runs and announcing my 'personal worst' with great joy. Did he give you a programme as well, or just the form notes? ❤
For our two, schools around Secunderabad opened nursery forms anywhere between November and January, so the watchman may not be far off. Still, call the office on a weekday and ask for the exact month, it saves you two more trips ❤️ Age cut-offs differed from school to school, so ask that too.
3on Youngest in her class 1 section by almost a year, and the writing is already a stretch
Speaking as a teacher (older students, but the same applies): a short note from a parent early on really helps. We do look at ages, but in the first weeks with a new class it's easy to miss. And she sounds like she's settling in well, which matters most ❤
3on New van route, and our class 4 daughter is now the first pickup at 6.35
How did the week end? We were first pickup for a year once, and what helped most was an earlier dinner for everyone, little one included, so bedtime didn't feel like a punishment for one child. It's hard on the whole house, not only her ❤
2on Second opinion on braces for our 11 year old, around Tellapur or Gachibowli?
We're going through this with our daughter right now. Two opinions, two quite different plans: one wants to take out teeth first, the other doesn't. We haven't decided, and may go for a third, which feels excessive. A practical thing to ask early is how often the visits are and at what time. Both clinics we saw only had weekday afternoon slots, which clash with everything she does ❤
1on Class 8 orientation next week. Son says parents 'don't go to those anymore'
From the teacher's side: we notice which parents come to orientation, and it genuinely helps later in the year when something comes up and we already have a face for the name. Go, sit somewhere at the back, don't wave at him.
2on Read every night till April. Since the holidays started, not one page
This matches what I see with much older students after long breaks too: it's the slot in the day that disappears, not the interest. Get bedtime back first and the books usually follow within a week or so. Two weeks is plenty of time for that ❤️
1on lal bahadur high school in kachiguda is on my office route. worth a look for class 1 in 2027?
A year ahead is a good time to start looking. Something worth asking any school about class 1 joiners from a separate preschool is how they settle children in the first month, whether there's a shorter day at first. Ours had a half-day first week and it made a real difference ❤
3on Maths workbook has the answers printed at the back, and he's found them
As a teacher I'd say he's half right ❤️ The answers are there for checking, so after he finishes a page, pick any three questions and ask him to show you the working. If he can explain them, the answers did their job. If he can't, he'll start writing the working himself, because that's easier than being caught out.
Your daughter has already said it better than any adult could. I'd tell her exactly that, so she knows her instinct is right ❤️ With the aunty, something light like 'they're just friends, they fight over the cycle bell like anyone else' usually does it. You're not correcting her, just describing what's really happening. I wouldn't raise it with his parents unless they bring it up. They have almost certainly heard it all before.
