Read every night till April. Since the holidays started, not one page
Grade 2 in two weeks. Daughter was reading every night before bed till April, chapter books even. Holidays came, routine died. Now not one page. Restart now or let school do it? 😅

Restart now, but small. With my granddaughter I asked her to read to me, ten minutes, any book, comics also fine. Reading to someone is different from reading alone.
She'll read to the dog if I ask. Does that count 😄
What changed in May apart from school? Screens, travel, later bedtime? For us it was the bedtime. Once that came back, the reading came back with it.
This matches what I see with much older students after long breaks too: it's the slot in the day that disappears, not the interest. Get bedtime back first and the books usually follow within a week or so. Two weeks is plenty of time for that ❤️
Is it the routine that has gone, or interest in the books she has? Our son stopped reading over one summer simply because he had finished everything at home that he liked. A trip to a library or a bookshop to choose two new ones might do more than a rule. Does she have anything new waiting?
somewhere around 12 my son stopped reading for fun and never quite came back to it. at 7, after one summer, i wouldn't worry. it'll come back with the school day
Keep going
