Class 8 orientation next week. Son says parents 'don't go to those anymore'

The school has sent a circular for the class 8 orientation before term starts. Our son has informed us that parents stopped attending these in class 6 and that nobody's mother will be there. I'm not trying to embarrass him. But I want to hear the new class teacher for myself, and I don't know if he's right or just hoping. How does it work at your children's schools?

From the teacher's side: we notice which parents come to orientation, and it genuinely helps later in the year when something comes up and we already have a face for the name. Go, sit somewhere at the back, don't wave at him.

Is this his message or the school's? If the circular is addressed to parents, I'd go and not make an event of it.

The circular says 'parents of class 8 students'. His reading is that it means parents who haven't been told by their son.

    • My elder one said the same last year. I went. She ignored me completely in the corridor, then asked what the teacher said the moment we were in the car. That seems to be the arrangement now.
