Someone posting here usually has a tired, worried reason for it. Reply to what they actually wrote. If you disagree with an approach, say why and what you would do instead — that is a reply. “You are doing it wrong” is not.

Parenting is not one method. Formula and breastfeeding, joint family and nuclear, cry-it-out and co-sleeping, government school and private — people arrive here from every direction and all of them belong.

Share what happened to you and what your doctor said. Do not diagnose, do not prescribe, and do not tell anyone to stop a treatment. If a post describes symptoms that sound urgent, the right reply is “please see a paediatrician” — say that first and anything else after.

• Do not post another person’s child’s photo, name, school or address.
• Think before posting your own child’s. What you write here is public and indexed by search engines.
• Never post a school name alongside a routine, a location or a timing.
• Do not post images of any child in a state of undress, for any reason, including a medical concern. Describe it instead.

The list below tracks what Indian law requires us to prohibit under Rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Do not post content that:

• belongs to someone else and to which you do not hold the rights;
• is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, or invades another’s privacy including bodily privacy;
• is harmful to a child;
• is defamatory, racially or ethnically objectionable, or promotes enmity between groups on grounds of religion, caste, community, region or language;
• encourages money laundering or gambling, or is otherwise contrary to any law in force;
• impersonates another person;
• threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order, or incites any cognizable offence;
• contains a software virus or anything designed to interrupt or damage any computer system;
• is knowingly false or misleading, and is communicated to cause injury.

Beyond the legal minimum, we also remove: harassment and targeted abuse, doxxing, spam and undisclosed promotion, content that shames a parent for their circumstances (single, working, stay-at-home, income, caste, religion, region), and anything that encourages self-harm or harm to a child.

Content that solicits or justifies dowry, expresses a preference for a child’s sex, or promotes sex determination is removed on sight. Pre-natal sex determination is a criminal offence in India under the PCPNDT Act, 1994, and we will not host discussion that facilitates it.

Traditional and home remedies can be discussed. Presenting them as a replacement for treatment of a serious condition cannot.

You may mention a product that helped you. You may not post affiliate links, run a business account, recommend your own clinic or creche without saying it is yours, or post the same recommendation across many threads. If you have a commercial interest, disclose it in the post itself.

Depending on severity and history: the content is removed, the account is warned, suspended, or terminated. Content covered by section 4 may be removed without warning. We also remove content when required to by a court order or a government notification, within the time the law allows.

Deleting your own discussion removes your name from it. The discussion and the comments other people wrote stay visible, because those comments belong to them and may still help someone else. This is explained again in the Terms.

Private messages follow every rule on this page. Either person in a conversation can report a message, and a moderator can then read the reported message to decide. You can also block a member from any conversation, which stops messages in both directions. The blocked member is not notified; if they try to write to you they are simply refused. Members can turn off, in their settings, whether people they have not messaged can start a conversation with them.
