Daycare cooks her food without salt and my in-laws think that's why she won't eat there

fern_rain_7108

Our daughter's daycare doesn't add salt or sugar to anything for babies her age. My in-laws are convinced that's why she eats well at home, where they add a little, and barely touches the daycare lunch. I don't know whether no-salt is an actual guideline or just that daycare's policy. Everyone around me is very sure, in both directions, and nobody has a source. What did your doctors tell you, and what did your daycares do?

Our paediatrician told us no added salt or sugar till one, at the six month visit. My mother adds a pinch anyway when she cooks for him and we've stopped arguing about it, so I can't claim we're consistent.

is she fussy there, or just eating less because there's a room full of other babies to watch? mine ate half at daycare and everything at home at that age. nothing to do with salt

Ask them to tell you what she does eat there, not only how much. When mine were small I noticed the 'didn't eat' days were always the same two dishes. Hope the in-law debate settles down soon ❤

Our doctor said the same, nothing added till one, and my mother-in-law said exactly what yours is saying. So this fight is very old 🙂 What kept peace in our house was a little ghee and jeera instead of salt. Ajji approved.

Our preschool still doesn't add sugar to anything, and he's 3. He has survived. At home he eats normal food. Kids seem to keep the two separate quite easily.
