Not my subject, I teach maths, but I see the same pattern in students who reread. Rereading feels like work and doesn't stay. Have him close the book after a section and say out loud, or write, what he remembers, then check what he missed. It's slower at first and it's the only method I've seen work for most children. The second thing is old question papers: once he sees what kind of question gets asked, he'll know which dates matter and which ones are just in the chapter.

Not a parent there. From the teacher's side: ask at the office whether a class teacher or someone at the front desk can explain things in Telugu at PTMs. Most schools have at least one such person, but it helps to know who it is before the first meeting.

As someone who sets papers: a full paper is two or three evenings of focused work plus a round of checking. If you do say yes, ask for the blueprint and last year's paper upfront so you're not starting from nothing.

Try a number line on the floor with tape. She stands on the first number. Positive numbers mean she faces right, negative numbers mean she faces left. Adding means walk forward, subtracting means walk backward. So 3 minus negative 2: stand on 3, face left, walk backward two steps, she lands on 5. Most children get it after walking it a few times.

From the staff side: with longer days, the last period is usually the one nobody learns much in. Worth asking which subject they plan to put there.

Teacher here, at a different school. Call the office first and ask for a Saturday or a weekday after dismissal. Ex-students are usually welcome, but walking in during exam weeks or the morning rush is what puts staff off. Late August is unit test time in a lot of schools, so maybe wait a few weeks.
