What does a nursery day look like at Brahmam Talent High School, SR Nagar?

indigo_kite_2717

My younger brother is moving his family to Hyderabad next summer, and their daughter starts nursery next June. They haven't settled on an area yet. SR Nagar is one option because it's close to his office, and Brahmam Talent High School is near one of the flats they've seen. He asked me because I teach, but I teach maths to older students in a CBSE school, and I know almost nothing about state board pre-primary. What I'd like to know from parents of small children there, or at similar state board schools: how much writing is expected at three and four, is there any play time built into the day, and how do they settle children in the first weeks?

Can't speak for Brahmam Talent specifically. When I was choosing for my younger one I found many state board nurseries start pencil-and-notebook writing early, so that's worth asking directly. Also ask if he can sit in a class for twenty minutes before deciding. A good school won't mind.

Small correction on early writing, at least from our experience. My daughter is at an English-medium state board school and their pre-primary was phonics, rhymes and a lot of sand. Writing came in properly only in UKG. It varies school to school, so asking is right, but don't assume state board means rote.

Practical worry first. SR Nagar main road at 8 am is not fun with a three year old. Find out whether she can walk to the school from the flat or will need a van, and what time the van picks up. That decided more for us than the curriculum did.

Why are you doing his research? He and his wife should visit. A teacher uncle's opinion and a parent's are different things.
