Are 'profile building' packages worth anything for class 11 students applying in India?

Daughter is in class 11, PCM with economics. Two months in and the school has already held an evening session on 'profile building'. Paid research paper programmes, MUN conferences, a summer internship 'facilitation' package, the works. Several parents signed up on the spot. I've read the brochure twice and still can't tell how much of this matters for admissions in India, as opposed to applications abroad. She isn't planning to go abroad. Is anyone's child in a college here that cared about any of it? 🤷

IB school here, same sessions, same packages. We said no to the paid research paper, that one felt like buying a line on the CV. She does MUN because she likes arguing. For Indian colleges I doubt anyone reads that section closely, but happy to be corrected 🤷

For most admissions here it's the entrance score or the board marks that decide. Activities count for some private universities' interviews and for applications abroad. A paid paper with a stranger listed as guide won't impress anyone who reads it carefully.
