no tears at daycare drop-off anymore. she saves them all for pick-up

breezy_fern_5760

two weeks now. drop-off is a wave and she's off to the blocks. pick-up, the second she sees me, a proper wail, then she clings for an hour at home. the staff say she's fine all day. i believe them. i'm not sure what to do with this, mostly just noticing it. anyone else had this?

For most of a month after he started, ours did exactly this. The daycare explained it as holding it together all day and letting go with the safe person. Whether that's really the reason I can't say, but it faded.

That explanation matches what I remember with our son at that age. One practical thing that helped us was a snack and some water in the car before anything else. A fair amount of the evening crying was plain hunger.

snack before anything else. i think she skips the 4 o'clock one some days. will try that.

We're at the start of this. Mine is in her third week of daycare and she cries at both ends. Reading this, I can't decide which is better.

For what it's worth, my daughter did the pick-up crying at that age. At fourteen she barely looks up when I come in. Both phases pass.

      Replying to @indigo_kite_2717

that made me laugh, and also slightly sad. for the record, no tears today. she stared at me for a long moment and went back to her blocks.
