two days in vijayawada for a client next week, one night away. caregiver has been with us since he was 6 weeks and she's better at his routine than i am. backup is in place, numbers on the fridge, everything still feel like i'm forgetting something. what did you leave written down the first time. and do video calls help or just confuse a baby this small

The list that helped me was not the emergency one, which you already have. It was the ordinary one: what he usually eats and when, how he likes to be held for the last feed, which song or noise works at 3 am, where the spares are kept. The things in your head that nobody thinks to ask about. On video calls: at that age my daughter mostly stared at the phone and then got upset when the screen went dark. I switched to calling the caregiver after the baby was asleep.

ordinary list is a good point. started writing it tonight and i'm on page two. didn't realise how many small things i do without thinking

Add the doctor's clinic timings and which pharmacy delivers at night. We only thought of that at 11 pm once.

did a conference when my son was around that age. same setup, caregiver plus backup. the night was fine for him, i was the one who slept badly. one thing, tell the caregiver it's ok not to update you every hour. ours felt she had to and it made both of us anxious

That last point is worth doing. Agree on a check-in time, maybe after the evening feed and once in the morning, and otherwise no news is good news.
