3on Can you ask for extra time in a class 6 entrance test if your child has an assessment report?
Not quite the same situation, but our elder son had his arm in a cast for his class 7 entrance test. We emailed the admissions office a week ahead and they arranged extra time and a separate desk without any fuss. I'd guess a report works the same way: write in advance, don't leave it for the morning of the test.
1on Nursery at Jasrath Mission in 2027 if we move in with my parents near Charminar?
The commute is the part I'd think about. If you keep your job in Serilingampally, that's a long drive both ways every day. Pickup would be fully on the grandparents, so ask them what they can manage on a hot afternoon, not just in principle ❤️
2on 13 year old's teacher read out marks to the class, and she doesn't want me to say anything
I'd do the same. Our 13 year old asked something similar of me last year about a different matter. We agreed I'd wait, and that if it kept happening he'd let me ask a general question at the PTM. It did keep happening, and in the end he was the one who suggested I bring it up.
1on Thinking of moving our 9 year old to his brother's school for class 5
Even with the two class groups we already have for our boys, the messages are more than I can keep up with during on-call weeks. Two calendars on top of that would finish me. Consolidating sounds sensible.
1on Daughter made a slide deck to argue for humanities in class 11
My 13 year old does this verbally. I am already afraid of the day he learns to make slides. Did she have anything on careers, or was it mostly about what she enjoys?
3on Caregiver asked for a raise after three months. How did you work out what's fair?
Agree with this. One thing we learnt the hard way: write down what the new amount covers. Ours later assumed Saturdays were extra and we assumed they were included. That caused more bad feeling than the raise ever did.
2on School is asking class 7 parents whether we'd prefer a five-day week with longer days
Our elder one is on a five-day week, the younger still goes on Saturdays, so we get both versions. The five-day child is more tired on weekday evenings, no question. But it's the only arrangement where I, with on-call weekends, ever get a whole day with him. I'd vote yes for that reason alone ❤️
1on Bhanodaya is a five-minute walk from us. Does the board matter for LKG?
The 40 minutes is the part I'd weigh most. Our younger one's van ride is 35 minutes and he falls asleep in it most afternoons, then he's up late. If I were choosing again for LKG I'd look much harder at distance.
1on 16 year old has lost three days running at society badminton to an uncle in chappals
Love this ❤️ My 13 year old would never step onto a court where he might lose to an uncle. Your son going back after the first loss is the part I'd be proud of.
1on Class 7 science teacher told them to ask for evidence. My daughter started with her paati
We get this from our 12 year old too, except about salt. I explain this stuff to patients all day. At home I'm asked for a source. ❤️
2on What does a nursery day look like at Brahmam Talent High School, SR Nagar?
Practical worry first. SR Nagar main road at 8 am is not fun with a three year old. Find out whether she can walk to the school from the flat or will need a van, and what time the van picks up. That decided more for us than the curriculum did.
3on Grandson examined me with his toy stethoscope and prescribed two chocolates after food
As a cardiologist I'm relieved he checked the heart first. My younger one listened to mine once and announced it was "too loud, please fix" ❤️
2on Two pregnancy books in, and they disagree on almost everything
One practical point: if your partner has any existing condition, the general books won't cover it properly. Ask her doctor which one they point patients to. Most of them have a favourite.
3on baby has learnt to blow raspberries. he saves them for my partner's client calls
Catching up on this late. My younger one did this all through my telephone rounds when he was small. One of my registrars still asks after 'the trumpet' ❤️
0on class 12 timetable has no games period at all. she played basketball three days a week
As a cardiologist I'd be the last person to tell a teenager to stop exercising for a year. Her body will thank her, and so will her sleep. An outside court twice a week sounds very sensible ❤️
2on Our 3 year old's imaginary friend now needs a plate at dinner
That's clever. Ours got a second plate for a while as well, and the friend refused vegetables, which turned into a useful conversation. Our younger one used his friend to say things he didn't want to say himself.
3on Son's new class teacher was in my lecture hall a few years ago
Our elder son had a teacher whose father had been my patient for years. She brought it up in the first week, not me. It made the PTMs a bit friendlier, nothing more. I'd let her raise it if she wants to.
0on Took our toddler to see three playschools. He screamed at two and wouldn't leave the third
I wouldn't make it the only thing, but I wouldn't ignore it either. My younger one howled at the place we eventually chose and settled within three weeks, so first reactions aren't destiny. What I'd ask about the third one is why he was comfortable. Was it the space, or an adult who got down to his level? That part carries over. The sand tray doesn't.
My elder one only goes into class 7, so I can't tell you what works. What I'd worry about more is him walking into June already tired. A summer of cricket and some reading is not a wasted summer.
3on Our class 1 daughter will only do homework if her brother sits with her. He starts class 12 in June
Seven years between our two, so a similar gap. What worked for us was a fixed short slot, 15 minutes after dinner, with the elder as 'checker', not tutor. The little one does the work, the big one checks it at the end. Keeps most of the older one's evening free ❤️
0on Does nursery at St Marys High School, Saroornagar, run as its own little section?
Up after a call, so forgive the hour. I'd put the distance first, before the nursery layout. Our elder boy spent his early years on a 50-minute van route and it shaped every evening we had. Nallagandla to Saroornagar at school time is the city end to end. If the board and the drive both work for you after a visit, then the separate-wing question is the right one to ask.
1on How much homework comes home in class 1 at Kakatiya Techno School, Moula Ali?
If your hours are anything like mine, hospital and on call: whatever the load, check whether homework is sent on an app or only written in the diary. With our hours, the app was the only way I knew what was due before 9 pm.
4on What does 'integral education' look like day to day at Sri Aurobindo School, Kushaiguda?
The test calendar is a good one. We ask for the year's assessment schedule at every school visit now. It says more about the real approach than anything on the website.
