Daughter made a slide deck to argue for humanities in class 11

She's 15, class 10. At dinner yesterday she opened her laptop and presented eleven slides on why she should take humanities instead of science. There was a slide called "Common objections" with my exact lines on it, including "what will you do with a history degree". With answers. I sit through a lot of decks at work. This was better than most. Haven't said yes yet. Did ask for the file though 🤷

The objections slide! She knows her audience. Whatever you decide on the stream, the fact that she prepared a case instead of slamming a door says a lot about how she'll handle the next two years ❤️

My 13 year old does this verbally. I am already afraid of the day he learns to make slides. Did she have anything on careers, or was it mostly about what she enjoys?

careers slide was there. law, journalism, policy research. Some of it clearly came from videos, but she'd also emailed a cousin who did a humanities degree and quoted her. That part was solid

My daughter is in class 12 now, and for us the surprises came from the subject combinations rather than the stream itself. Schools offer different electives alongside history, and not every pairing is available. I would sit with her and the school's actual list for class 11 before deciding. Did she say which subjects she wants to take with history?
