16 year old has lost three days running at society badminton to an uncle in chappals

For years he decided the society court was beneath him. This week his friends are all away, so he finally went down. Three evenings, three losses, all to the same uncle from B block who plays in chappals and never seems to move more than two steps. Today my son came home and asked, very seriously, if I could find out what the uncle eats 😂

Ayyo, the chappal uncles are undefeated everywhere. My older one lost to our watchman's father last year and still won't talk about it 🙂

Update: he won a game yesterday. Uncle told him 'good, now we can play properly'. He's still working out whether that was a compliment.

Those uncles have played on the same court for thirty years. They know every corner of it. Your son never stood a chance in week one.

Speaking as someone slowly turning into one of those uncles: it's mostly placement. We can't run any more, so we've learnt not to need to.

Best possible thing for a 16 year old's ego. Also my 9 year old would like to know if the uncle gives lessons.

Love this ❤️ My 13 year old would never step onto a court where he might lose to an uncle. Your son going back after the first loss is the part I'd be proud of.

Is it the chappals, or forty years of practice? I'd bet on the practice. Still, losing three in a row on a society court is a cheaper lesson than losing in a tournament.
