class lists came on the school group today. his new class teacher is a former student of mine. good student. second row, always asked about the exam pattern. do I say something at the first PTM? or pretend I don't recognise her so nobody's awkward

ha. happened to me last year with the swimming coach. I said hello, she said 'ma'am' and went red, then it was fine. kids didn't even notice

Mention it once, briefly, and then leave it. If you pretend not to know her and she recognises you, that will be far more awkward than a simple hello. I'd keep it well away from anything about your son's progress, though, so she doesn't feel assessed twice over.

Our elder son had a teacher whose father had been my patient for years. She brought it up in the first week, not me. It made the PTMs a bit friendlier, nothing more. I'd let her raise it if she wants to.

that sounds sensible. she may not even remember me, there were 80 of them in that batch

My sister's maths teacher was my classmate in school. Every PTM she tells my sister 'your anna used to copy my homework'. Sister loves it, I don't 🙂 Say hi, it'll be fine.
