What does 'integral education' look like day to day at Sri Aurobindo School, Kushaiguda?

citrus_lantern_5265

A colleague who lives in ECIL brings up Sri Aurobindo School in APHB Colony whenever anyone mentions changing schools. When I ask why, the answer is 'the approach is different'. Different how? The name suggests the Aurobindo idea of integral education. I'd like to know whether that shows up in an ordinary week, in the timetable, in exams, in how much is left to the child, or whether it's a name on a regular ICSE and State Board school. Not judging either way. I'd just like one concrete answer instead of 'different'.

ask them for a sample timetable. schools that do things differently can't stop talking about it lol

Fair question. I don't know this particular school. A lot of schools carry a name like this without any formal link to the Pondicherry schools, and some do follow that approach closely. The only way to know is to ask them directly whether any class runs on free progress, and how exams work in the middle years.

When we were visiting schools a few years ago, the most telling question was about tests. Several schools said 'no pressure' and then showed us a weekly test calendar. Whatever they say about approach, ask for the assessment schedule.

The test calendar is a good one. We ask for the year's assessment schedule at every school visit now. It says more about the real approach than anything on the website.
