Can you ask for extra time in a class 6 entrance test if your child has an assessment report?

Our daughter is 10 and has a learning difficulty that was assessed last year. Her current school gives her a couple of small accommodations in exams: extra time, and questions read aloud when she asks. We're applying to two schools for class 6, and both have a written entrance test in December. Neither application form asks anything about support needs. I work in a school myself, so I know some schools do allow it, but I don't know how common it is here at the admission stage, or whether mentioning it changes how the application is looked at. Has anyone asked for this? Did you send the report in advance or raise it on the day?

Not quite the same situation, but our elder son had his arm in a cast for his class 7 entrance test. We emailed the admissions office a week ahead and they arranged extra time and a separate desk without any fuss. I'd guess a report works the same way: write in advance, don't leave it for the morning of the test.

Yes, in advance. And ask for their reply in writing, so whoever is invigilating that day knows about it.

I help set papers at my school, though not admission tests. Where I've seen it handled well, the request came in before the test with the report attached, and the school treated it as routine. The worry about it affecting selection is real and I won't pretend otherwise. But a school that would hold it against her is probably also a school that wouldn't follow through on the accommodations once she's in.

we did this for our son last year for a class 5 admission. sent the report with the form even though there was no column for it. one school called us to talk before the test and gave him an extra 20 min. the other never replied and we didn't go there. can't say if it affected anything else, he got in at the first one

that's useful, thanks. the school that never replied is its own answer i suppose. we'll send the reports this week and see who calls back
