Bhanodaya is a five-minute walk from us. Does the board matter for LKG?

We're choosing a school for our son's LKG next June. Bhanodaya High School is down our road in Attapur, and I like the idea of walking him there myself on work-from-home days instead of a 40-minute van ride. The CBSE schools on our shortlist are all a van ride away. Everyone in the family has an opinion. Ajji says a big school from the start, my partner says it's LKG and the board doesn't matter yet. If we start at Bhanodaya and want CBSE later, is switching around class 1 or 2 hard? And if any of you have little ones there, how have the early years been?

Only a 1 year old here and we're already having this argument at home. The van ride is what bothers me. An hour or more a day at 4 feels like a lot.

Our younger one is 3 and we're weighing the same thing this year, leaning towards closer. The elder did a long bus ride in primary and I still remember how tired she was by Thursday.

That's my thinking too. How long was the elder one's ride? I'm trying to put a number on what counts as too long.

both mine are state board english medium and the early years are not that different from cbse, rhymes letters numbers. the gap shows up later in how the textbooks are written, not at lkg. switching in class 1 or 2 is common, the main thing is the new school's entry test if it has one

A friend's son was at Bhanodaya till UKG and then moved. She liked that it was small and close by, that's all I know firsthand. Ask if you can see the LKG classroom during school hours, that tells you more than this thread will.

The 40 minutes is the part I'd weigh most. Our younger one's van ride is 35 minutes and he falls asleep in it most afternoons, then he's up late. If I were choosing again for LKG I'd look much harder at distance.

Late, but one practical question: does the LKG finish at the same time as the bigger classes? If you're walking him back yourself, the pickup time matters more than the board on office days.
