2on Daycare wants parents to vote on fewer photos and we're voting opposite ways
let partner's vote count, mute it on your side. same peace, no argument at home 🤷
1on 12 yr old wants to cycle with her group to a friend's colony across the main road
Mine are 6 and 7 so nowhere near this. But isn't the main road the real question, more than her age? Same road at 14 is still the same road 🤷
6on Getting the full list of charges from Sri Dwarakamai Model School before we decide on class 6
On the board switch, we haven't done it ourselves. A cousin moved her son from CBSE to State in 6th and she said the language papers were the bigger adjustment, not maths. Might be worth seeing how your daughter is placed there 🤷
1on The school dental check says my son needs to brush better. I'm a dentist
So the cobbler's children really do go barefoot 🤷 Mine are both under 8 and I have no high ground at all, they negotiate every extra minute at the sink.
1on She reads the class 2 reader aloud perfectly and can't tell me what happened in it
My son is the exact opposite. Reads slowly, gets stuck on every third word, then tells you the whole story with extra characters who were never in it. They'll probably meet in the middle somewhere.
2on 15 year old wants to go on a week-long Himalayan trek over the Dasara break with an adventure group
i'd be more worried about the train with a group of 15 year olds than the trek itself. ask who's travelling with them
2on Flying with a toddler in the festival rush, from someone who works the airport side
security tray with two kids, a stroller and a laptop was our worst 10 minutes ever. now one parent goes through first and the other hands everything over
0on My son's first 'dada' happened during my morning standup
does it count if your partner didn't hear it though 🤷
2on ICSE to CBSE for class 5 if we end up near Amberpet. Anyone looked at Sri Vidya Secondary School?
We're in Domalguda and drove around that side when we were looking for our elder one's school. Never went inside that one, so nothing first-hand. One thing I'd ask any school for a class 5 joiner: which English and Hindi textbooks they use, so she can get familiar with them over the summer before joining.
2on New client wants a daily 3.30 call, which is exactly when I leave for school pickup
Asked a client to move mine to 4.15 last year. Said I had a 'standing commitment'. Nobody asked what 🤷
3on Cousin's wedding in December. Our class 12 daughter wants to be there all four days
mine are 6 and 7 and i'm already dreading this conversation 🤷 in my family the weddings get fixed and the exams have to fit around them
3on Daughter is in class 10. Do we need to start on class 11 applications now?
is the early timeline only for schools, or junior colleges too? mine are in primary, but i'd like to know which year this starts 🤷
1on Class 2 sum marked wrong because he added the tens first
That's roughly what I told him at bedtime. He asked if he could do it his way at home and the column way at school, which seems like a fair deal.
1on Class 2 sum marked wrong because he added the tens first
Instruction on the sheet just said 'add'. So whatever it was testing, it didn't tell him. Diary note it is.
1on Our baby greets every delivery person at the door like a long-lost uncle
ours did the same with the watchman. he still stops at our door on his rounds to say hi to them, years later 🤷
1on Shoe shop near Gachibowli where they measure a child's feet properly?
we gave up on shops measuring. trace both feet on paper at home, cut them out, take the cut-outs along and slide them into the shoe. works every time 🤷
1on She labelled every new notebook herself. Also the TV remote, the fridge and me
mine have been wearing their new school shoes around the house all week to 'break them in'. mostly on the sofa
1on Telugu at home, IB at school, and my 13 year old can't read a Telugu signboard
No tips, only sympathy. we speak Hindi at home and both mine already read it slower than English, and they're still small. not sure how you stop that.
We did 7 to 4 and 10 to 7 for a while. Kids loved it, a different parent at each end of the day. We didn't. Lasted about 8 months.
0on Preschool is shut till June and every summer camp starts at 4. What did you do with your 3 year old?
The relatives route got us through two summers ago, when ours were 3 and 4. It helped, but it was a relay: one aunt on Mondays, granny midweek, us the rest. Tiring to organise, the kids loved it. We looked at summer daycare but never tried it.
0on colony badminton tournament has no kids' category, and my daughter wants to enter doubles with me
Are all the matches 21 points? She might tire before the score does. Ask if first round can be 15, that answers the schedule complaint too
0on Basketball camp handed my 14 year old a diet chart with a target weight
Is it possible he gave everyone the same template and the number just comes off some height chart? Not saying it's okay. Just wondering if it was careless rather than aimed at her.
second language is a good point. a colleague's kid moved in class 9 and had to start hindi almost from scratch because the new school didn't offer what he'd been doing. took him the whole year
0on partner away 10 days in may and i'm on call half those nights. no family here
good point. what did you settle on after that? just comfort and call you, or a list of what they're allowed to give?
2on made my 2 yr old a paper office id so he'd give mine back. now he checks everyone's at the door
Ha. Our older one ran a ticket counter at the bathroom door for a week. Paper tickets, no refunds 🤷♂️
