Daycare wants parents to vote on fewer photos and we're voting opposite ways

Our son is 11 months. Daycare sent a form this week: keep photo updates through the day, or switch to one summary with a few pictures at 4. Partner wants to keep everything, says the photos are the only window into his day. I'm on installation sites most of the time and every ping pulls me away from a client, and then I can't not look. We each get a vote, which feels silly if we just cancel each other out. Thinking maybe I let partner vote for the photos and I mute the app. Is that a cop-out? 🤷

Muting worked for me. I check the app once at lunch and once before leaving office. Partner gets the live feed. Nobody had to vote against anybody.

Once at lunch sounds doable. Did you turn off the badge count as well? That little red number is what gets me every time.

Before voting, I would ask the daycare what the summary would actually contain. 'One summary at 4' can mean a proper note on meals, naps and mood, or it can mean three smiling photos and 'had a great day'. When our son was in daycare, the written note was far more useful to me than any picture. If theirs is the second kind, your partner is right to want the photos.

let partner's vote count, mute it on your side. same peace, no argument at home 🤷

Our son's daycare was before every centre had a photo app, so I can't compare directly. We had the same split over phone calls, though. One of us wanted the centre to call at lunch and the other found it disruptive. What settled it was agreeing on what counted as a reason to call, and everything else waited for pickup. It might help to agree on what is worth a ping before either of you votes.
