colony badminton tournament has no kids' category, and my daughter wants to enter doubles with me

organisers say it's open to all residents so technically she can. she plays with me most evenings, decent for her age, nowhere near the uncles who've been playing for twenty years she knows we'll lose in the first round and doesn't care. i'm the one worried she'll get flattened and never pick up the racket again. one uncle has already said kids will 'slow down the schedule' 🤷 do i just enter us

enter. the uncle worried about the schedule is reason enough

Are all the matches 21 points? She might tire before the score does. Ask if first round can be 15, that answers the schedule complaint too

My older one played an open event at around that age and lost 21-3, 21-5. She was upset for one evening, then wanted to know how the other pair served. I think it depends on whether she's going for the experience or expecting to win points, and you'd know that better than anyone here. If she's realistic about it, I'd let her play.

our society did a 'family doubles' round one year. best match of the day was a dad and his 7 yr old, crowd cheered every point she won. maybe suggest that to the organisers
