When our son was small, for one bad stretch we paid our day help extra to stay over, and a neighbour kept a spare key. It worked because the child already knew her well. Ask your nanny first, before any agency.

Could you swap a few on-call nights with a colleague and pay them back in June? That's what got us through one of my partner's travel months. Even taking two or three nights off the list makes the rest much easier to cover.

already asked. two people are on leave in may so i'll get 2 swapped at best. still leaves 3

ask a family from her preschool. we have a deal with one, they take ours for a night if needed and we take theirs. used it twice in three years

We have a similar arrangement with another family. It works, but agree beforehand what the other parents can decide on their own if your child wakes up unwell at 3 am. We hadn't, and the one night it mattered there were a lot of phone calls.

      Replying to @ivory_lantern_2897

good point. what did you settle on after that? just comfort and call you, or a list of what they're allowed to give?
