Cousin's wedding in December. Our class 12 daughter wants to be there all four days

Family wedding out of town in the second week of December, four days of functions. Our daughter is in class 12 and badly wants to go for all of it. The bride is her cousin and they grew up together. The school has already mentioned preboards in January. My partner thinks two days is enough. I'm somewhere in between. What did you do about weddings in the board year?

Teacher here, and I'd say let her go for the main two days, not all four. December in class 12 is when revision gets serious. That said, a bride cousin is not a small thing. She'll remember the wedding longer than any December mock 🙂

The main two days sounds right to me. My son is only in class 9 and we've already been told to plan around exams for anything in December. It keeps starting earlier.

Why decide now? See where she stands after the half-yearly. If she's on track, four days won't break anything. If she's struggling, she'll probably choose to come back early herself.

mine are 6 and 7 and i'm already dreading this conversation 🤷 in my family the weddings get fixed and the exams have to fit around them

Same in ours. The date was fixed before anyone looked at a school calendar.

And the relatives will still ask about her marks at the reception. Better she's there to answer them herself.
