0on 9 messages in the family group today, 3 about whether she needs a cap indoors
my son is 21 and the family group still sends me weather advice for him. it doesn't stop, it just changes topic
0on Toddler wakes at 2 am ready to play, and I have to be at the lab by 8
the boring room worked for us too, eventually. my son is 20 now and i still remember sitting on the floor beside his cot in the dark, counting fan rotations. it stopped as suddenly as it started
0on Moving from ICSE to State Board for class 10. Is that even done? Looking at Quantums in Bowenpally
my son moved boards after class 8, not 9. the year of adjusting was the hard part, more than the syllabus. in class 10 there's no adjusting year, it's straight into the exam.
1on Entrance test for class 6 joiners at St.George Grammer School, Yapral?
my son switched schools at class 6, about ten years back. the test turned out to be the easy part. the first term with new friends was the harder one, for both of us
2on Setting up a toddler playdate with daycare parents we've never spoken to
this was years ago for me, my son is 21 now. i asked the other mother at the playschool gate, very awkwardly. she said yes immediately and admitted she'd been planning to ask me. we stayed friends long after the boys drifted apart
0on nanny has to go home next week for two weeks and there's no family here to cover
two weeks like this came round every year while our son was little. some years it was an agency, some years it was me taking him to the office with a colouring book. he remembers the office ones fondly. i remember them less fondly.
0on Daughter wants physiotherapy. Everyone keeps calling it 'the backup to MBBS'
one more thing, since i'm up. the relatives will keep saying it. it helped my son when we stopped arguing with them and let him answer for himself.
2on Daughter wants physiotherapy. Everyone keeps calling it 'the backup to MBBS'
my son's flatmate is a physio student. he's the only one of them who comes home tired in the good way. i don't know enough about the jobs to say more than that.
0on son asked me to look at his resume. then ignored every comment
six months later sounds about right for him. i'll keep the comments somewhere safe
0on Back from site visits covered in dust and paint smell. Change before I pick up the baby?
when our son was small i was doing a lot of plant and site visits. kept a spare top and a towel in the car and changed before going in. it started as caution and turned into a little ritual. he'd wait at the door for 'clean amma' before he'd let me pick him up
2on Our 10 year old overheard us discussing the rent, and now he switches off every fan in the house
when my son was about eleven he heard us arguing about a loan. he's twenty now and brought it up last year out of nowhere. he remembered his switching-off-lights phase too. what he remembered most was that nobody explained, so he guessed
my son did nothing the summer before class 10. not a page. he did fine, though i spent all of june sure he wouldn't. i don't think the summer was what decided it
1on School has a class 11 bridge course the week before term starts. Worth cutting the holiday short?
my son skipped his. he said the first two weeks of class 11 covered the same chapters anyway. not advice, just what happened in our house. the ones who went did know each other a little better on day one
6on I get home at 8 and she's already asleep. Should I move my whole day earlier?
For about two years I mostly saw my son asleep. I remember the mornings more than I expected to. We sat on the balcony at 6 with his bottle and the newspaper. He doesn't remember any of it. I do.
1on i teach primary all week. at every family visit my sister hands me my nephew's homework
my brother is a doctor and every family dinner was a free consultation. after a few years he started bringing his kids' homework to my place in return. it evened out
0on Both of her daycare teachers left in March, and drop-off is back to week one
my son's creche changed almost every adult in his room the year he turned two. i remember the collar grip exactly. what i don't remember is when it stopped, which probably says something. he's twenty now and has no memory of any of them.
