I get home at 8 and she's already asleep. Should I move my whole day earlier?

My research sessions often run till 6.30, and with traffic I'm home a little after 8. Our daughter is a few months old and goes down at around 7.30. My partner is home with her this year and is doing a wonderful job. But I've started to feel I only see her at the early feed and at weekends. I could ask to work 8 to 5, though participants prefer evenings. Has anyone shifted their day like this, and did it help, or did the evenings just get swallowed by something else? ♥

For about two years I mostly saw my son asleep. I remember the mornings more than I expected to. We sat on the balcony at 6 with his bottle and the newspaper. He doesn't remember any of it. I do.

We moved bedtime to 8.30 for a few months so the late parent could do bath and bed. It worked well until he started playschool. Might be easier than changing your work hours, if your partner is fine with a later night.
