1on Someone in the Vignan Vidyalaya applicants' group says forms close Monday. Do I believe it?
You were right. Got through to the office today, got one clear answer on the dates and wrote it down. Group is muted. Ippudu peace :)
1on Someone in the Vignan Vidyalaya applicants' group says forms close Monday. Do I believe it?
Phonics before a nursery interview aa? Ayyo. Ours is only dates, I'll take it :) Calling the office tomorrow.
0on Two years early for nursery? Divya Jyothi High School is five minutes from our house
At one, mee papa won't even be in the age group they're admitting now, no? Nursery cutoffs go by age, so first check which year she falls into. Then relax for a year 🙂 Board-wise, at nursery level State or CBSE, the day looks more or less the same. Play, rhymes, some letters. The difference shows up much later.
1on Hospital bag lists all disagree and the family keeps buying more
Ten years back we went with two big bags. Used one. The second one Amma packed 'just in case' came home exactly as it went :) Whatever you forget, somebody at home can bring within the hour. Don't stress the list too much.
3on Considering Glendale in Tellapur for grade 4. How is the second language handled for joiners?
Speaking from the teacher side, not as a parent there. 'We support every child' can mean anything from a proper beginner group to 'she'll pick it up'. Adi standard line andi, every school says it, mine included. Ask them how many current grade 4 kids started the language late and how they're doing now. If they can't answer that, you have your answer.
2on preschool wants a parent for the clay ganesha session on a weekday morning
I teach older kids, but I've seen a few of these sessions. Total chaos, and nobody is counting whose amma came 😄 At 2 she'll be far more interested in squishing the clay than in who is sitting next to her. Send aunty with a full change of clothes, that is the real requirement. Keep your leave for something she'll remember later, like the annual day.
4on Do any of the vans on the Siddartha High School run in Secunderabad also take toddlers to daycare?
Speaking as a teacher, not about that school: at most schools these vans are private arrangements between the driver and the parents, and the office has very little to do with them. So ask the drivers directly, around dispersal time when they're waiting. And look at whether there's an attendant at all. That's usually the real question 🙂
0on My son's first 'dada' happened during my morning standup
Congratulations! Ours said 'amma' first and then called me amma too for about six months. Nanna came much later. Still bitter.
2on CBSE to State Board in class 5 and 7 if we move to Moula Ali. Ramnagar Public School?
I teach at a CBSE school and we get State Board joiners every year. Going the other way is less common, but in class 5 it's not a big deal. Class 7 I'd watch a bit more, the textbooks and exam pattern feel different, so the older one may need a term to adjust. Telugu will be a step up, but kids pick it up faster than we think, bhayapadakandi 🙂
2on Does Kakatiya Techno School in Vanasthalipuram ever let colony children use its ground on Sundays?
Before the school, try complaining about the park drain? Ma colony lo same problem undedi, a few complaints and they finally cleared it. The kids got the park back in two weeks.
0on Class 1 daughter says everyone in her class goes to tuition except her
I'm on the teaching side at a CBSE school myself, for what it's worth. In class 1, twenty minutes at home with a parent is plenty. What we notice in class is whether a child is tired, not whether she had tuition. Paati can relax a little 🙂
0on 16 yr old wants to join the saturday 5 am cycling group. 50 km on the ORR service road
A few senior boys from my school ride with a group like this. From what they tell me, the decent groups have rules: helmet, lights, nobody left riding alone at the back. Ask the ride lead if they take under-18s and whether a parent has to come the first time. If they say 'no problem, send him' without asking you anything, adhi kuda oka signal 🙂
0on Tuition sent my daughter's 'progress report'. The neighbour's son got the same one, word for word
Speaking as a teacher with a comment bank of my own, we at least shuffle the order of the sentences 🙂 Same three in the same order means nobody even did that.
0on 13 year old says she concentrates best after 10 pm. Do I believe her?
As a teacher I can tell you the late-night crowd shows up in first period with eyes half shut. But some kids genuinely do their best work late, and at 13 it may be real. I'd look at how she is at 7 am, not how she is at 10 pm 🙂
0on She'd be the youngest in class 1 by months. Go ahead in June, or another year of UKG?
I teach class 3 and every year I have a couple of the youngest ones. By class 3 you mostly can't pick them out, except sometimes in writing speed and sitting still. The ones who find it hard are usually the ones whose parents keep worrying out loud in front of them 🙂 If the UKG teacher says ready, I'd go with that.
Nizampet side here, so not far. Nobody I know is at Sri Sai Rama, but with most of the smaller schools around Quthbullapur the vans are run by private operators rather than the school. She should ask the office for the operator's number and talk to him directly about the Suraram route and timing.
3on A three-week theatre workshop, five hours a day, just before class 10 begins
The holiday assignment is the least of it, and I say that as a teacher. Nobody remembers it by August 🙂 What she'll remember is standing on that stage. Let the ammayi go. Just tell the tuition sir she'll be tired for those three weeks.
