circular came today. each child makes a small clay ganesha with a parent next thursday, 10 to 11.30. i have a customer demo that morning that's been fixed for a month. my caregiver can go. but apparently every other child will have a parent there, and she's 2, she won't understand why it's aunty. move the demo or let this one go

I teach older kids, but I've seen a few of these sessions. Total chaos, and nobody is counting whose amma came 😄 At 2 she'll be far more interested in squishing the clay than in who is sitting next to her. Send aunty with a full change of clothes, that is the real requirement. Keep your leave for something she'll remember later, like the annual day.

I missed most of these when mine was small, outpatient days don't move. She doesn't remember a single one now. What she does remember is the one sports day I turned up unannounced. So maybe pick a different event and make that one count

Our son's preschool had these too. When neither of us could go, his grandmother went, and he was perfectly happy because he had her full attention while the other parents were busy taking photos. The only time it upset him was when he found out on the day. If you send your caregiver, tell your daughter a few days before who is coming.
