Tuition sent my daughter's 'progress report'. The neighbour's son got the same one, word for word

Three lines. "Shows good potential. Needs to be more consistent. Should practise more at home." Our neighbour's son is in the same batch. Same three lines, same full stop at the end. Only the name changed. Not sure what I'm paying for, but at least it's consistent.

I teach primary and write around thirty of these a term. The first ten get real sentences. By number twenty-five everyone 'shows good potential'. Not proud of it.

Appreciate the honesty. Our school report had exactly one line that was clearly about her: 'talks to everyone during art'. That one I believed.

Did you ask the tuition teacher, in person, for one specific thing your daughter does well? The spoken answer is usually far better than the written one. The written one is a form.

The remarks are filler. Compare the marks across three reports, if they give marks. That is the one part they cannot copy across.

Speaking as a teacher with a comment bank of my own, we at least shuffle the order of the sentences 🙂 Same three in the same order means nobody even did that.
