A three-week theatre workshop, five hours a day, just before class 10 begins

She's been offered a place in a summer theatre workshop that ends with two public performances. It runs from 10 to 3 every day for three weeks, which takes most of what is left of her holidays. She has never done anything like it and is very excited. Her school has already sent a class 10 holiday assignment, and she has maths tuition twice a week. Her plan is to do the assignment in the evenings. Is this a sensible use of the last free stretch before a board year, or am I right to worry that the assignment will be done badly at night?

The holiday assignment is the least of it, and I say that as a teacher. Nobody remembers it by August 🙂 What she'll remember is standing on that stage. Let the ammayi go. Just tell the tuition sir she'll be tired for those three weeks.

How many hours does the assignment really need? If it's a few worksheets, evenings should be fine. If it's a project with a model and a file, that's different.

That is the right question. Class 10 holiday work is usually revision worksheets plus one project. The worksheets can be done in the evenings without much trouble. The project is the part that gets left to the last two days and done badly. If she finishes it in the first week, before rehearsals become intense, the evenings will be manageable.
