Two years early for nursery? Divya Jyothi High School is five minutes from our house

Our daughter is one. I walk past Divya Jyothi High School in Narayanaguda most mornings, and this week there's an admissions board up. A neighbour told me people around here start visiting schools when the child is barely walking. I laughed, and then I wondered if she was right. The school is State Board. Most of what colleagues have told me is about CBSE schools further away, but this one is walkable, which counts for a lot with both of us working. Two questions, then. Is it normal to start looking this early, or am I catching the neighbourhood panic? And has anyone visited Divya Jyothi or known families there, just for a general sense of the early classes?

For nursery we chose a school 40 minutes away because of its name and regretted it within a term. My son is 13 and in IB now, a different world, but that part I remember clearly. A small child in a van that long every day came home exhausted. Walking distance matters far more at three than people admit. You have plenty of time, though. One is early.

Same thought here. For my younger one we picked near over 'better', and I've never regretted the extra sleep in the mornings.

depends on the van tbh. my 8 yr old does 35 min each way and treats it like social hour, comes home with more news than from class 🤷 the 3 yr old i'd keep close, yes

40 minutes at three sounds rough. we're lucky the walkable option exists, just need to know if it's any good. noted on 'one is early', the neighbour has been informed

Hi neighbour, we're in Domalguda too. My son is 4 and we did nursery admissions last year. A couple of schools around here took forms more than a year ahead, but most of the ones I asked opened them a few months before the academic year. I didn't apply to Divya Jyothi, so I can't speak for them. The simplest thing is to ask at their office when nursery forms open for your daughter's year. It saves a lot of guessing.

At one, mee papa won't even be in the age group they're admitting now, no? Nursery cutoffs go by age, so first check which year she falls into. Then relax for a year 🙂 Board-wise, at nursery level State or CBSE, the day looks more or less the same. Play, rhymes, some letters. The difference shows up much later.
