3on Took our son on two school tours. He ranked them by the canteen and the slide
What does he say about the class he never settled into? Ask him what the new place should be different at. That answer is worth more than the slide.
3on Class 4 daughter keeps a tally of every 'good' and 'very good' in her notebooks
Teachers do change how they mark. My son's class 6 teacher wrote only ticks the whole year. He took it personally for a month, then forgot about it.
1on Joined cricket coaching for the batting. Came home a wicketkeeper
Enjoy it while it lasts. Keepers also get hit in places they didn't sign up for. Buy the box before you buy the gloves.
1on Grandson does homework at our place. Do I correct his mistakes or leave them?
What does the teacher want? Some teachers mark down homework that has obviously been fixed by an adult, others want it correct. You can't decide without knowing that.
0on If we rent near Nallakunta, would our shy daughter be the only new face in class 7 at St Augustine?
Ask the school directly how many joined class 6 and 7 this year. A number, not 'quite a few'. Also, being the only new one can be easier than being one of five new ones who stick together and leave her out. It depends a lot on the class teacher.
Book cabs for the morning slot in advance. Kondapur at 9.30 is worse than people here are admitting, and a 20 minute ride can turn into 50.
0on caregiver asked if she can bring her 6 yr old along on the days her school is shut
How many days is 'a few'? Two days is a favour. Two weeks is a different arrangement and you'd want to discuss it as one.
6on Two months into class 11, my son wants to drop JEE coaching. A bad patch, or a real change?
Two years behind you, so only a question. Who chose the coaching in the first place, him or you? That changes how I'd read this.
0on 14 yr old joined the school photography club. family photos now need eleven takes
Wait till she discovers editing. My 13 year old won't let a photo reach the family group until he has fixed the colours.
0on 12 year old and two friends want to start a YouTube channel reviewing Tolichowki street food
Voice is identifiable too. And a street food stall is a location. Those conditions are softer than they sound.
0on My partner now sends baby updates like a labour-ward handover
'All good' is not an update. Make a template and send it over. Ours has three lines and nobody argues about it.
0on My 12 year old read 63 reviews before buying a ₹150 water bottle
Enjoy it while it's a ₹150 bottle. Mine did the same for a pen. Then he did it for a phone, and I lost two weekends to his comparison spreadsheet.
2on Who fits mosquito mesh on windows around Sainikpuri? Our son naps by the balcony door
Pleated on the balcony door, fixed frames on the windows. The magnetic strip ones look neat for a month, then the corners start lifting. Ours went in two years ago and the fixed ones haven't needed anything since.
0on New Brilliant High School is five minutes' walk from us. Enough reason to split the girls' boards?
You're deciding class 10 for a 4 year old. Don't. Decide LKG to class 2 and look again then. On a visit, ask how the nursery day is structured and how the handover to a caregiver works at dispersal.
0on Daughter's first offer letter has a two-year service bond. Is that standard now?
Read the clause, not the summary in the email. Is it a fixed penalty, or 'costs incurred' that reduce month by month? The second is more common and more reasonable. Also check whether they want to keep her original certificates. That's the part I'd refuse.
4on A boy called her rajma chawal smelly, and now our class 8 daughter only wants sandwiches
Was it one boy once, or is it a pattern? If it's one comment, she's handling it fine by switching for a while. If it keeps happening, that's worth mentioning to the class teacher, not because of the food but because of the laughing.
6on Our toddler runs at every street dog in the lane with both arms out
You don't teach it at under two. You hold her hand near dogs, every time, until she's old enough to understand why. The lesson comes later, the hand comes now.
0on Daycare has started a 'one bite of everything' rule, and our daughter now dreads lunch
Two crying drop-offs out of how many days? Two out of fifteen, I'd wait. Two out of four, talk to them this week. Also: is she upset about the dal or about being watched while she eats it?
Ten years is a long time to plan around. Plenty of children change at 9 or 11 anyway, for boards, coaching or a move like yours. What exactly worries you, the entrance tests or losing friends? Those need different answers.
2on Kiran International School, Boduppal, for two sisters joining together next June
'Usually' won't help you. Seats in class 4 and 6 depend on who leaves that year. When applications open, ask in writing and get both confirmed or neither. Don't accept one now and 'we'll see' for the other.
4on Class 9 starts in three weeks and my son has been rehearsing a 'new me' in the bathroom mirror
Two sentences is generous. Ours drops it the moment food arrives.
3on are the nursery toilets near the classroom at prism in narsingi, and who takes the little ones?
Ask to see them on a working day, with children in the building. A description over the counter tells you nothing.
3on Daycare wants an 'admission fee' to move him up to their pre-nursery, in the same building
Ask them for the daily schedule of both rooms side by side. If the only change is the name on the door and a workbook, you have your answer.
1on Son wants a polytechnic diploma after class 10 instead of inter. He's 14
What is the friend's brother doing now, exactly? Lateral entry into which college, and how did he find the second year? One success story is a sample of one. I'd want him to meet two or three students from the polytechnic he's considering.
