Who fits mosquito mesh on windows around Sainikpuri? Our son naps by the balcony door

plum_pebble_4544

With the rains, the mosquitoes in our flat are terrible in the evenings, and our 1 year old has bites up both arms. We have a net over his cot, but he's started napping wherever he drops, usually on the mat by the balcony door. I'd like proper mesh on the windows and that door. Sliding, magnetic, the pleated kind, I don't know which survives a toddler pulling at it. If you've had it done recently, what did you choose and would you choose it again? Someone based near us would be a bonus.

Pleated on the balcony door, fixed frames on the windows. The magnetic strip ones look neat for a month, then the corners start lifting. Ours went in two years ago and the fixed ones haven't needed anything since.

Ask how the door mesh is meant to be cleaned. Ours is the sliding kind and looked very good on installation day, but dust collects in the track and nobody mentions that. Also check the bottom rail; ours is a small step, and my 11 year old still trips over it.

Our 7 month old pulls at everything as well. We chose pleated for the door because there's nothing in the middle to grab. Two months in, no tears yet.

The person who did ours in Miyapur came from Kukatpally, so I think most of them cover a big area. Get them to measure on a dry day. Our first set was measured in the rain, the frame swelled, and it never closed properly after 😄

'Lasts' depends more on the frame than the mesh. Ask what the frame is made of and whether the mesh can be replaced alone when it tears. Ours tore within a year and they wanted to change the whole unit.

we have the velcro kind on two windows as a cheap trial. fine for windows nobody touches. useless anywhere a child can reach

we put mesh on everything last monsoon and still found the odd mosquito. mesh plus the plug-in thing in the evenings is what finally worked. our daughter calls the balcony door the mosquito jail
