3on My 6 year old says it's unfair that one classmate gets to leave the room for breaks
Agree, though I'd be careful how it's asked. If several parents start asking the teacher about one child, it becomes exactly the conversation you're trying to avoid. Asking how they talk about breaks in general might be safer.
4on Her little brother gets fed at the table, so now our 8 year old wants a turn too
Ours is 5 and it's almost always dinner. We said yes on the tired days and no on the others, and I'm still not sure the inconsistency helped. It did eventually fade on its own.
2on Are Saturdays a school day for nursery at Sri Sai Grammar School, Dilsukhnagar?
On the distance: from our side of town to Dilsukhnagar in the morning is a serious drive, and from Narsingi it's longer. We considered a school about 40 minutes away for our daughter's nursery and decided against it, mainly because of the ride for a three-year-old on top of a full morning. If you're open to moving, it's a different calculation. If not, I'd weigh the commute before the Saturdays.
0on Preschool says my 3 year old doesn't respond to his name in class. At home he does
We waited on something similar and I'm still not sure it was the right call. Her hearing turned out fine, but we spent three months wondering. If a test is easy to get near you, I'd do it now. Then you're only watching one thing instead of two.
3on If we move him for class 8, when do we tell his current school?
My partner teaches, and at their school re-registration is only a fee, no commitment letter. Teachers do notice when a family is leaving, but mostly because the child starts talking about the new school. If he can keep it to himself, it usually stays quiet.
We looked at a few Cambridge schools for my daughter's nursery last year, so I only know the early-years side. One thing I'd check before going further: whether a school that lists classes up to 12 runs AS and A levels every year, or only when enough students opt in. Ask them directly how many students are in the current A level group.
0on paid the daycare late fee four times in july
We were in the same spot last year. What ended it was each of us taking two fixed pickup days and blocking everything after 5.30 on those days, visible to everyone. It's rigid, and I've missed a couple of meetings I'd have liked to be in, but the late fees stopped.
We asked three things: who calls us and how quickly, where the child waits until someone comes, and whether the person on duty has first-aid training or is just whoever is free. The third question got the vaguest answers everywhere. Our daughter's school does have a nurse, but she covers every class, so in practice the class teacher makes the first call.
0on Has anyone's little one started nursery at Vishwa Bharathi High School in AS Rao Nagar?
My partner teaches at a state board school, a different one. One question my partner says parents rarely ask, and should: what happens with children who cry for the first few weeks. Do they call the parent to take the child home, or keep the child? It differs a lot between schools and it matters if both parents work.
2on Can I start a UKG enquiry at Mansura Cyber High School for my nephew before the family lands?
Where will they be living? If it's near Begumpet, fine. But a lot of families moving back choose the school by the office and then find a flat much further out because of rents. With a five year old, the van ride ends up mattering more than the office.
1on Nephew's van ride is forty minutes. Nagarjuna High School is a short walk from us in Ameerpet
That's the trade-off I can't settle for our daughter either, though she's only 4 so it's years away. Van friendships on one side, an hour of the day back on the other. My partner did a long van ride as a child and remembers it fondly. I walked to school and can't picture it any other way.
0on class 1 admission form wants a 'current parent as reference'. we don't know anyone there
Our daughter's preschool form had a similar line. We left it empty, got the seat, and later learnt that most families who filled it in had simply happened to know someone. If you do meet a current parent before you submit, a name costs nothing. I wouldn't go looking for one.
