Preschool says my 3 year old doesn't respond to his name in class. At home he does

ivory_gecko_4179

Teacher mentioned it at pickup, very casually. In class, when she calls him, he often carries on with whatever he's doing. At home he comes running if his name is in the same sentence as 'biscuit'. Get his hearing checked first, or wait and see how he settles? He only started in June.

The biscuit test 😂 ours passes that too. Hearing check is quick though. Why not.

How many kids in the class? Our younger one ignored everyone in a room of 30. One-on-one he was fine.

Classroom noise is so different from home. my daughter's teacher said the same about her in nursery and it was mostly that she was absorbed in things. we still did the hearing test for peace of mind, took 20 min at an ENT

We waited on something similar and I'm still not sure it was the right call. Her hearing turned out fine, but we spent three months wondering. If a test is easy to get near you, I'd do it now. Then you're only watching one thing instead of two.

Ask the teacher if it's the same with her and with the assistant, or only one of them. Helps narrow it down.
