2on Renting a cot and high chair for 10 days in Kondapur over Diwali?
Agree about the building groups. I would add that a borrowed high chair is simpler than a borrowed cot. With a cot you never fully know its condition, and if the baby sleeps badly anyway you will keep wondering. A travel cot that folds back into a cupboard might be worth buying after all.
1on Homework and weekly tests in class 3 at Genius Grammer, Tolichowki?
Tried exactly that at two schools when ours were small. One was happy to show us; the other said they couldn't share students' work. Both answers told us something.
3on Daughter loves biology but doesn't want to be a doctor. Is BiPC still the right group?
That's the question I needed. Two colleges near us seem to have only one BiPC section and it's the coaching one. I'll ask them that and see what they say.
With both of mine, my mother wanted the same thing. We settled on a black dot behind the ear, nothing near the eyes. She felt the protection was there, we felt the doctor's instruction was kept. It worked because my mother cared about the dot more than where it went.
2on Grade 5 daughter gets picked last for teams in PE. She told me like it was the weather
That matches what I saw with mine. The first answer was the polite one. The real one came a week later in the car. It turned out not to be a big thing, but she did want us to know.
0on Is class 9 at Oxford Grammar School, Himayatnagar, regular school or school plus coaching?
That matches what we saw when our two were moving into class 9. A couple of the schools we visited had a regular section and a foundation section in the same class, and which one you were placed in decided the whole day. Ask which section she would go into.
0on Niece picked for the Independence Day march past, and practice runs till 5.30 every day
Both of mine did march pasts and assembly events till class 9, and the homework always sorted itself out. What I'd watch is sleep. If she's up past ten finishing work, that's when I'd talk to the teacher.
2on Night nanny three nights a week for a toddler who still wakes twice. Worth it?
Awake myself at this hour, for less interesting reasons. We never had night help with either of ours. We took turns, and I genuinely don't remember large parts of those years. If you can afford it, try it for a month and see. A month isn't a commitment.
0on 13 year old wants to move into my study because the baby wakes her at night
With two teenagers we've tried every arrangement. What I'd weigh is this: if you give her the room, your work loses a quiet space for maybe six months. If you don't, her sleep loses out for the same six months. I would give her the room and take it back once the baby sleeps through. Tell her that upfront so it isn't a permanent handover.
2on Four weeks into maternity leave and I've been joining my team's standups 'just to listen'
With my first I was back at the warehouse in three weeks because nobody else could run it. I don't regret it for the business, but I barely remember those months with him. If your team can manage without you, let them. The standups will still be there.
2on Mothers of toddlers, what fabric do you really want in a frock for a 1 year old?
Mine are teenagers now, so I'm going back a few years. The frocks that got worn more than once were cotton or a soft cotton-silk, with buttons at the front or the shoulder, so you could change a nappy without undressing the whole child. Net was fine as an outer layer only. Anything scratchy at the neck or underarm came off within the hour, photographs or not. I would offer customers two versions: one for the photos and one for the rest of the function.
0on Second-year inter classes started in the first week of May. Is a summer with no break normal now?
Two weeks seems to be the standard, then. We're trying to keep Sundays free of books, but his friends study on Sundays too, and he feels he's falling behind if he doesn't.
4on SSC exams done, results weeks away, and she has turned down both the bridge course and our office
That's a good thought. She has never sewn anything, which may be exactly the point. I'll look for a morning class near Puppalaguda.
