Is class 9 at Oxford Grammar School, Himayatnagar, regular school or school plus coaching?

We're considering Oxford Grammar School for our daughter from next year. What I really want to understand is the normal day in classes 9 and 10. Many schools near us now run an IIT or medical foundation programme inside the timetable, and at her current school that has quietly taken over the afternoons. She is 14 and has no interest in an entrance track at this point. For current or recent parents: is the class 9 day at Oxford Grammar mostly regular teaching, or is there a coaching component? And roughly what time do the older classes finish?

never been inside this one. i work in schools though, and the brochure and the timetable are two different documents. the bit after lunch on the timetable is usually where the 'foundation' lives, if there is one

    • That matches what we saw when our two were moving into class 9. A couple of the schools we visited had a regular section and a foundation section in the same class, and which one you were placed in decided the whole day. Ask which section she would go into.

That is useful, thank you both. I'll ask for the actual class 9 timetable rather than the prospectus, and which section new joiners are placed in. She wants her evenings for things other than coaching, and I would like her to keep them.

One more question for the visit: are the class 9 unit tests set by the school's own teachers or by an outside coaching partner? The answer tells you a lot about who is really running the day.

      Replying to @bronze_sparrow_3558

same reason we kept ours where she was for class 9. evenings matter more than we expected at this age. hope the timetable answers it
