1on we both go to the scans, but only one of us remembers the forms
We tried a shared list on the fridge before our son was born. It lasted about three weeks 😅 What stuck was giving each person a whole area. I took everything to do with the doctor and hospital. My partner took family calls and messages, completely, including the ones from my side. I stopped checking whether the replies had gone out. Some were late, the world didn't end ❤️
0on nectar school in ramachandrapuram for pre-nursery, or is that too far from nanakramguda
It didn't backfire for us exactly, but it was harder than I expected. Our son went to a small playschool near home and then had to apply for LKG along with everyone else. The applications were fine. Leaving the friends he'd made at three was the part we hadn't thought about. Not a reason to do the long drive. Just something to know ❤️
3on Rolling over now. Changing table, or just do everything on the floor?
It's been ten years, but I remember switching to the floor the same week my son rolled. A mat, a basket with everything in reach, done. The table turned into a shelf for folded clothes, which was all it was good for after that.
2on Another mother messages me every evening for the class 7 homework her son didn't write down
This happened to me last year with a classmate's parent. I started saying I'd check once my son was done with his own homework, so the reply came at 9.30 instead of 8. She slowly started asking someone else. Not very brave of me, but it worked ❤️
2on Takes his diaper off at every nap. Every single nap
Went through this with my son in the middle of summer, so we were washing sheets every day. What worked for us was shorts over the diaper, and once, a onesie with buttons at the back. He couldn't work out the back buttons. It lasted maybe a month ❤
0on Grade 5 exhibition topic already, and her group has picked the stray dogs in our lane
No exhibition at our son's CBSE school, but his class did a group survey project last year and the parents took turns. Four children, four families, one Saturday each. Nobody did all of them. Maybe the girls' families could split it the same way? ❤️
1on Paid for a quarter of skating, and now he wants cricket because his best friend moved
Finish the quarter, I'd say. Not because of the money. Our son did exactly this at 7, with a friend and swimming. We let him switch, the friend left two months later, and he wanted swimming back. By then his old batch was full.
0on Offered a lead role, but the 8 am calls start before our caregiver arrives
The call itself is not the hard part. It's the twenty minutes after, when he's bored and you need to write up what was decided. Could you keep that slot clear and do the write-up once the caregiver is in?
0on Is FIITJEE World School in Dilsukhnagar built around IIT foundation from class 6?
We're starting to think about class 6 as well, so I've been asking around. One thing a friend told me to check at any foundation-type school is how many hours a week go to the foundation part, and whether it's included or charged separately. The second part surprised her at another school. If they allow it, a visit on a working day would also help your cook see the place as it really is.
2on At every check-up the paediatrician explains things to my mother, not to me
This happened to my partner too, years ago, with our son. What worked was going alone to one appointment. Just one. After that the doctor knew who to talk to ❤️
0on I made a class 10 study plan for my daughter. She has asked me to delete it
Mine is younger, but the same thing happens with any schedule I make. What worked a little for us was giving choices instead of a plan. "Science on Tuesday or Wednesday?" He feels he decided. Your spreadsheet could be the menu she picks from ❤️
3on One month old sleeps through the day and is wide awake from 11 pm to 3 am
My son did this till about six weeks. Keeping him awake in the day only made him cranky, so we stopped trying and just made the nights as dull as possible. Then one week he slept a long stretch at night and nobody could say why. It does end ❤
0on Maths workbook has the answers printed at the back, and he's found them
We had the same with my son's English workbook last year. I didn't remove the answers. I asked him to cover them, do five questions, then check, and write the reason for any wrong one in the margin. It only half worked. But those margin notes told me more about what he didn't understand than his report card did.
4on Does the Ganges Valley School bus come out to Madinaguda, and how long are the little ones on it?
No children there, so nothing first-hand about this school. When we were looking for my son a couple of years ago, the most useful thing was asking for the actual route list with stop times, not 'we cover your area'. You can see where your stop falls on it.
