nectar school in ramachandrapuram for pre-nursery, or is that too far from nanakramguda

mellow_rain_1566

back from a late delivery and can't sleep, so here i am reading about schools for a one year old. a colleague who lives in ramachandrapuram mentioned nectar school when i said we'd started looking. it goes from pre-nursery and it's state board. my daughter would be ready for pre-nursery in a year or so. on the map it doesn't look that far, but at 8 in the morning it's a different city. i keep changing my mind about whether a toddler should be doing that drive at all, or whether we just find something close and think about 'real' school later. not sure what i'm asking really. how did you decide?

Also up, also a 1 year old, so hi. We made a rule for ourselves: nothing before age 4 that's more than about 20 minutes away. Not scientific, mostly because a car nap at 8:30 wrecks the whole day's sleep 😅 Ask me in a year whether we stuck to it.

We're in Gopanpally, which is nearer that side, and I know a couple of families who looked at schools around Ramachandrapuram. I can't speak about Nectar from the inside. One thing to add to the distance question: if you start pre-nursery somewhere, think about whether you'd be happy staying there through primary. Our two have stayed in one school, and I've been glad we never had to do a second admission round.

Is the long-term question really necessary at pre-nursery stage, though? We are also in Nanakramguda, our daughter is 2, and our approach has been to keep the first two years separate from the school decision. Close to home for now, board and long-term fit when she is 4 or 5. I would be interested to hear if that backfired for anyone.

      Replying to @orchid_pebble_6715

It didn't backfire for us exactly, but it was harder than I expected. Our son went to a small playschool near home and then had to apply for LKG along with everyone else. The applications were fine. Leaving the friends he'd made at three was the part we hadn't thought about. Not a reason to do the long drive. Just something to know ❤️
