One month old sleeps through the day and is wide awake from 11 pm to 3 am

In the day she sleeps like a stone, through the cooker whistle and the doorbell. From about 11 at night she's wide awake, eyes open, looking around, happy as long as someone is walking with her. We take turns but we're both wrecked. My mother says keep her up in the day. My partner's mother says never wake a sleeping baby. Did yours sort this out on its own, or did you do something?

Ours had his days and nights swapped for the first few weeks too. What we did, on our doctor's suggestion, was keep the day feeds bright and ordinary, curtains open, people talking, and the night feeds nearly dark and boring, no chatting, no big lights. It settled over two or three weeks, though I can't say how much of that was us. That was five years ago, so take the details loosely.

My son did this till about six weeks. Keeping him awake in the day only made him cranky, so we stopped trying and just made the nights as dull as possible. Then one week he slept a long stretch at night and nobody could say why. It does end ❤

Our daughter's ajji took her out on the verandah for a few minutes of morning light every day and swore that fixed it. Whether it was the light or just time passing, she was sleeping at night within a month.
