0on Nursery next June ends at 12.30, right when she naps. Keep daycare for the afternoons?
What does the daycare say? That's the part that decides it. Ask whether they take half-day children and where those children sleep. My 3 year old started preschool this year and her nap simply moved to 1.30 at home without much drama, but that's home, not a room full of kids already asleep.
1on daughter's choosing between a master's abroad and one here, and i don't know what to ask
'Support' is too vague to compare. Ask each university for specifics. How many international students were in that exact course last year, not the whole university. Who she contacts if she's unwell in week two. How accommodation is allotted. If they answer with a line from the brochure, that's your answer.
2on Residential university outside the city, or a day college with a long commute? Daughter is 17
"Never run her own day" covers a lot. What specifically do you think she can't do yet? If it's waking up and getting herself to class, the commute tests that too.
0on Son wants to apply abroad for UG. The money is the easier question for us
Ready how, specifically? Can he cook a basic meal, handle a bank account, wake up without anyone calling him, sort out a problem with an office by himself? 'Not sure he's ready' is too vague to decide anything on. Make the list and see where he stands.
2on What do you cook for a 9 month old when you can barely cook?
Mashing from your plate only works if your plate isn't spicy. Ours was, so we kept one small pot without chilli or salt and took his portion out first.
1on The colony Ganesh committee worked out I'm pregnant before my sister did
Call your sister today. Not after the next meeting. Today.
1on Class 7 picked cooking for Saturday skill classes, and now two boys call him 'aunty'
How many boys, and is it only the name and the stirring, or more? 'Two boys and a joke' and 'his whole section' need different responses. If it's two boys and he's still choosing cooking, I'd hold off on the teacher for now and check in with him every week.
4on Who fits mosquito mesh on windows around Sainikpuri? Our son naps by the balcony door
'Lasts' depends more on the frame than the mesh. Ask what the frame is made of and whether the mesh can be replaced alone when it tears. Ours tore within a year and they wanted to change the whole unit.
0on Could we skip pre-nursery altogether and apply straight for nursery?
And when they say 'yes, we take outside children', ask how many they took last year. 'We do' can mean two.
0on What do creative writing classes teach a class 6 girl that school English doesn't?
'Give it direction' towards what? Competitions, school marks or just better stories? Those are different classes. My elder one did a term of one aimed at competitions and it mostly taught her a formula: strong opening line, twist, moral. Her stories got tidier and less like her.
1on My 11 year old wants to read whatever her 14 year old cousin is reading
My elder one has read plenty of these. The romance is mostly long text conversations and one kiss near the end. The running-away ones bothered me more, because she wanted to talk about them for days. Which turned out to be the useful part.
6on Pulled elbow from the 'one two three, swing' game. How do I stop the relatives without a scene?
Say the doctor said no. Don't explain. Don't debate the forty years. People argue with reasons. They don't argue with 'doctor said'.
2on If the older one leaves the school later, does the younger one's sibling seat go with him?
Ask the school in writing and keep the reply. What admissions tells you on the phone changes with whoever picks up. Our younger one also got in on sibling priority, and when the older one started talking about moving for 11th we asked. Their answer was 'once admitted, admitted'.
1on Basketball camp handed my 14 year old a diet chart with a target weight
Possibly. It doesn't change much. Careless is still four kilos on a sheet she reads every morning. Spoke to him today. He called it 'general guidance' and said he'd take the charts back. She hasn't asked for rice yet.
1on Daycare wants her on fixed nap times before she joins. She naps whenever she likes
'Predictable' could mean anything. Ask them for the actual nap times in her age group and what they do with a baby who is awake while the room sleeps. If the answer is 'they all sleep', I'd be a little wary.
1on japa nanny's 40 days end next week. extend her or try managing on our own
What does 'manage' mean to your partner? Who covers the two nights she does now? Sort that out before anything else. If the answer is 'you', extend.
