Class 7 picked cooking for Saturday skill classes, and now two boys call him 'aunty'

School started Saturday skill classes this year: robotics, carpentry, cooking and a few others. My son chose cooking. He likes it and he's good at it. Three weeks in, a couple of boys from his section have started calling him 'aunty' and making stirring motions when he walks past. He laughs it off at school and goes quiet at home. He doesn't want me to tell the teacher. Should I anyway?

Ask him if he wants to switch. If he says no, that tells you how much it's getting to him.

Also asked if he'd like to make something for his friends on Saturday. He's planning brownies.

How many boys, and is it only the name and the stirring, or more? 'Two boys and a joke' and 'his whole section' need different responses. If it's two boys and he's still choosing cooking, I'd hold off on the teacher for now and check in with him every week.

One question I'd add: has anything been said online, in a class group? That's usually where these things grow, and he won't mention it unless asked directly.

Two boys, name and actions only, nothing online that he knows of. Holding off for now.
