What do you cook for a 9 month old when you can barely cook?

Our caregiver doesn't cook and I'm the one doing his meals most days. So far it's been rice cereal, mashed banana and a dal-rice thing that works sometimes. Doctor says he can have most home food now, just mashed and without salt. My home food is limited. What are your simple ones?

i cooked for my son at that age because my partner went back to work first. the thing i remember is he wanted whatever was on my plate, just mashed. took a lot of pressure off cooking separately

Mashing from your plate only works if your plate isn't spicy. Ours was, so we kept one small pot without chilli or salt and took his portion out first.

Moong dal, rice and one vegetable in the cooker together. Carrot, pumpkin, bottle gourd, whatever is in the fridge. Mash it, add a little ghee. That one dish covered half of my granddaughter's meals at that age, with variety from the vegetable alone. Salt and anything else, follow what your doctor says. Ours were particular about it.

You're doing better than you think, dal-rice is the backbone for most of us. I'd add curd rice once your doctor is okay with curd, and soft khichdi with a little ghee. Make one pot in the morning and it covers lunch and dinner. ❤️

egg yolk mashed into rice. my 2 year old still eats it most mornings, the 10 year old has opinions about it now. check with your doctor before eggs though

Did the frozen cubes go down well at that age, or did the texture change after thawing? Asking because I'm planning ahead with a 3 month old.
