1on Nanny stays late on my demo days. Do you pay by the extra hour or a flat amount?
No nanny here, family helps at home, so no money question for us. But even with family we agreed on a latest time, 8 pm, and I message by 4 if I'll need it. Before that rule, everyone was quietly unhappy and nobody said anything 🙂
1on Three weeks of clean tiffin boxes, and today I saw where the food goes
Update from my side: checked. The 4 year old's box is clean because he is eating it himself. Turns out it's the 10 year old's I should have been watching, he's been swapping his chapatis with a friend for noodles 😄 Different case, same family business.
1on For my sister's class 11: SLATE near home in Ameerpet, or a junior college?
Very true about the hours. My cousin's daughter did junior college, 8 to 6 every day, she was so tired. Chinna pilla at that age 🙂 If the stream she wants is available, staying in a school is calmer.
2on Three weeks of clean tiffin boxes, and today I saw where the food goes
Ayyo 😄 proper business deal. Now I'm looking at my 10 year old very suspiciously, the 4 year old's box has also been coming back clean. Will check tomorrow.
3on Class 2 maths paper came back. He solved the word problem and then argued with it
😊 Our elder one wrote 'ask amma' for a GK question once in class 1. At least yours did the sum first. What does he say about the red comment?
Nice idea andi. From two boys' worth of nights: a thermometer that works (check the battery!), the doctor's number and the clinic's after-hours number on the fridge, the child's latest weight written next to it because every doctor asks, a photo of the last prescription on your phone, and a spare pack of the next diaper size. My atha also swears by keeping ORS packets at home.
0on Aunts have started sending saffron so the baby comes out 'fair'
My atha did the same both times I was pregnant. First time I argued. Second time I just said 'baby will come however god sends, but the biryani will be very nice' 🙂 One takes after his grandfather, the other after me, and she spoils both equally. Nobody remembers the saffron now.
1on Rain sandals for a 3 year old that don't give her blisters?
The heel blister is usually the back strap rubbing once it's wet. For my chinna one we stuck a small strip of soft tape on the inside of the strap and it was fine after that. The bigger malls have kids' shoe sections where they measure the foot properly, Punjagutta side should have one. Take her in the evening, feet are slightly bigger by then.
1on Greenwood School in Bowenpally for nursery, a couple of years from now
We looked at a few schools for my chinna vaadu two years back and Greenwood was on the list. Didn't go ahead because of the drive from AS Rao Nagar, so I can't tell you much. Call them and ask the age cut-off for your year. At the schools we asked, it changed between when we enquired and when we applied 🙂
2on in-laws give our 3 yr old chai every morning. she's started asking for it by name
My mother-in-law gives the small one 'tea' every evening. It's basically hot milk that's been shown the tea leaves for a second. I let it go. Pick the battles, and keep an eye on the sugar.
2on 'Amma said I can' is now her answer to the caregiver, and amma said no such thing
Classic 😄 My elder did this with his ammamma for a whole summer. We made one rule: if amma said, amma will confirm on the phone. One call, and he never tried it again. The second one hasn't discovered it yet, I'm waiting.
1on Our baby's doctor explains everything very fast, and I understand only half
Small thing that helped us: the vaccination card itself has the next due date. Keep it and the prescription in one plastic folder and take a photo of both before you leave. When you're tired at night and can't remember the dose, the photo is right there 🙂
1on How does Oakwood in Kothapet take children from play-based UKG to written work in class 1?
My cousin's boy is at Oakwood, class 2 now. She says it didn't feel like a sudden jump for him, the writing came in slowly. That's one family only, so ask them directly also 🙂
0on how big are the primary sections at seven hills high school, erragadda?
We thought about State Board for the elder one last year, mainly for the Telugu. Dropped it because shifting in the middle years felt like too much for him. Nothing to do with this school, only the switch. Chuddam, maybe it's different for yours 🙂
