'Amma said I can' is now her answer to the caregiver, and amma said no such thing

dusk_sparrow_2001

Started about two weeks ago. More TV, a second biscuit, staying in the park till it's dark. Every time, 'amma said I can'. The caregiver is in a fix because she doesn't want to say no to something I've allowed. She's 6 and pretty pleased with herself about it. I'd like to stop it without making her feel she's been caught lying. Has anyone dealt with this?

Classic 😄 My elder did this with his ammamma for a whole summer. We made one rule: if amma said, amma will confirm on the phone. One call, and he never tried it again. The second one hasn't discovered it yet, I'm waiting.

We had exactly this at six, with our caregiver. What helped was telling the caregiver she's allowed to say 'then we'll ask amma when she's home' and not decide on the spot. Once the claim stopped working immediately, it faded. No big conversation needed.
