Our nanny started something similar with our daughter, a little tea with biscuits. What worked for us was keeping the ritual and changing the drink. Same small cup, warm milk with a pinch of elaichi, sitting with the nanny at the same time. Turned out she mostly wanted the cup and the company ❤️

My mother-in-law gives the small one 'tea' every evening. It's basically hot milk that's been shown the tea leaves for a second. I let it go. Pick the battles, and keep an eye on the sugar.

Our son had milky tea at his grandparents' from about four, and he's fine at twelve. If I were deciding again, I'd watch the sugar and keep it away from evening, more than worry about the tea itself. Your paediatrician's view would settle it better than any of ours.
