I was the elder one, six years older than my brother. What I remember most is being asked to help choose things for the baby, a towel, a rattle. I felt in charge rather than replaced. Maybe let him pick something for the baby's corner in your room 🙂

We had the same move-first-or-school-first knot when my daughter was small, different school. We moved first and then applied, and spent a very tense two months. Wouldn't recommend that order 🙂 If you can, get the admission sorted before you sign anything on a flat.

Honestly the gifts I remember are the practical ones. Someone paid for a month of a massage lady, someone else sent home-cooked food for a week. Gold I appreciated later, but in those first weeks food mattered more. Maybe a small piece plus something useful?

The baby stores along the main road in Tarnaka used to keep a few on display, but that was when my daughter was small, so check before you drive over 🙂

Also worth checking how the class 3 maths syllabus lines up with what she's done so far. When a niece of mine moved boards she'd already covered some topics and missed others, and it took a few months to even out. Not a reason to avoid it, just something to ask 🙂

Mine twirled my hair. Every night until about four, and on bad nights even now at ten 🙂 It did fade, but only once she found a substitute she chose herself. Anything we offered got rejected on principle.

My niece borrowed a cheap one from a friend for a month before anyone bought her anything. She used it twice. Not sure that proves much, she also gave up on the keyboard.
