class 10, and he's started tutoring the neighbour's son in maths. paid

the family downstairs asked if my son could help their class 6 boy with maths twice a week. they insisted on paying him. it's been three weeks and he seems to enjoy it more than his own studying. part of me thinks explaining fractions is the best revision there is. part of me thinks it's two evenings a week in his board year. haven't said anything yet

From a distance, with a younger one: I would look at what happens to his own work on those two evenings. If he's still getting through his plan, it sounds like a good thing. If the tutoring becomes the reason he doesn't, that's the conversation to have.

teacher here. explaining something to a younger kid shows you very fast what you don't really understand, so it can help. but class 6 maths isn't class 10 maths. it won't replace his own practice

'They insisted on paying him' made me smile. First salary in class 10 :) I'd probably leave it alone till the half-yearly results and see then. Has he said what he's doing with the money?

asked him. saving for football boots, apparently. he also said the boy asked him something about negative numbers last week that he couldn't answer straight away, which i think bothered him more than any marks would
