Try for LKG at Obul Reddy Public School next year, or wait for class 1?

Our daughter is in a small preschool near home in Kompally. My partner's office moved to Jubilee Hills this year and we are seriously considering moving that side, but not before we know about a school. As I see it: try for LKG next June at AMS P. Obul Reddy Public School, which means moving within the year if it works out. Or keep her where she is until class 1, which gives us two more settled years in Kompally, but I don't know whether class 1 is even a usual entry point there. Parents who joined at either stage, how did it go?

We had the same move-first-or-school-first knot when my daughter was small, different school. We moved first and then applied, and spent a very tense two months. Wouldn't recommend that order 🙂 If you can, get the admission sorted before you sign anything on a flat.

The worry I'd have is the double change. New house and new school in the same June is a lot for a 4 year old, though they do cope. Whichever entry you go for, ask the office directly what the intake is at that level. Parents' guesses on this tend to be a year or two out of date.

When we were looking at schools for our daughter, two of the bigger ones near us told us at the counter that most later seats go to children moving up from their own kindergarten. Not this school, so it may well be different there, but it's worth asking that exact question. The Jubilee Hills move sounds like it would make your partner's days a lot easier, so I hope it works out ❤️

Dropped by the office on Saturday. Nothing to decide yet, we were told to check back once forms are announced. At least we know who to ask now. The flat question waits till then.
