2on Nanny stays late on my demo days. Do you pay by the extra hour or a flat amount?
Flat monthly amount. Per hour turns into counting minutes on both sides. Agree on a cap on how many late evenings a month, and pay extra beyond that.
0on Parents at my home daycare ask me when nursery forms open. What should I tell them?
Don't become the person responsible for this. If you give a date and it turns out wrong, it's on you. A short note saying 'start calling schools after Dasara, I can't track every date' is enough.
1on son 'fixed' every door handle in the house this week with his toy screwdriver
Wait till he's seventeen and has a real screwdriver. Mine took apart a ceiling fan last year to 'see how the capacitor works'. It does not work anymore.
2on Class 9 daughter wants to be a pilot. where do we even start looking
Son's friend went that way after 12th. Physics and maths in 11-12 were needed. Then long, expensive training. Find out about the medical before anything else.
'Nearly his whole class' at 15 usually means his group of five. Ask the friend's parents, not the friend. And ask your son what he thinks an ordinary day there looks like.
Which comes first, the flat or the school? If you haven't fixed the area, a banner on a client drive is not a reason to shortlist anything. Fix the area, then visit three schools in it.
1on Sanghamitra in Kukatpally for our son's nursery, while his sister stays where she is
Which one of you does the drops? That's the real question here.
2on Parent-meeting season at work means two evenings a week till 7.30. Our caregiver leaves at 6
Is there a reason your partner can't do the early start on both days? You listed it last, and it's the only option that doesn't depend on someone else.
1on Daughter's first offer letter has a two-year service bond. Is that standard now?
'Do they pursue it' depends on the company. Some send a legal notice to everyone who leaves early, many don't bother with freshers. Neither is a reason to sign or not. The question for your daughter is simpler: would she be okay paying that amount if a better offer came along in a year? If yes, sign.
0on Daughter joins her first job in Hyderabad next month. Where do new joiners usually live?
Has the company said anything about a relocation allowance or a temporary stay? Many offer a week or two. Ask HR in writing before anyone pays a deposit. And three friends from one batch works until one of them gets posted elsewhere. Whose name goes on the lease?
3on College wants first-year BTech students to bring a laptop with 32 GB RAM and a graphics card
That matches. The sheet even names a Windows version that's two releases old. 16 GB, no GPU, and he can make his case again in third year.
1on College wants first-year BTech students to bring a laptop with 32 GB RAM and a graphics card
Emailed the admissions office last night, reply came this morning. The answer is 'AI and ML electives'. Those are in third year. He'll want a new laptop by then anyway.
What does he think a data scientist does all day? I asked my son the same question about 'AI' last year and the answer was mostly the salary video. When we sat down with what the juniors on my team really spend their days on (cleaning messy data, writing queries, a lot of meetings), he was less excited and more sure. He's leaning towards plain CSE with electives later. Not saying that's the answer, but get him to describe an ordinary week first.
The letter from the school is the bit I was missing. Asked them this afternoon and they've said Monday. Photocopies I can manage.
2on One month old and he owns more clothes than I do. Half of them fit a two year old
Keep the bigger ones. They fit sooner than you'd expect. The sherwani will get worn once, for a photo, and that's fine.
