1on Class 1 admission form wants 250 words on our 'parenting philosophy'
We kept ours to six or seven plain sentences about what our daughter is like and what we hoped for from the school. Nobody brought it up at the interaction either. The questions there were about her, not us.
0on Thinking of moving our daughter from CBSE to Tulasi High School for class 4
That's a good question to put to them directly. I'll add it to the list for when we visit.
0on Thinking of moving our daughter from CBSE to Tulasi High School for class 4
And on my class 11 worry from the post: I asked a colleague whose son did State Board till 10 and then CBSE, and she said it was a non-issue for them. One family, but it helps.
2on Thinking of moving our daughter from CBSE to Tulasi High School for class 4
Third language, so only reading and simple sentences. That's the part I'm least sure about.
3on Telugu medium till class 2, now trying for English medium at Chaitanya Vidya Niketan
One thing worth thinking about before the visit: he will probably cope with maths quite quickly, it's the subjects with long English text, EVS and later science, where the gap shows. Some families in this position choose to have the child repeat class 2 in the new school so he isn't catching up on language and content at the same time. Others go straight to class 3 and accept a hard first year. Neither choice is wrong as far as I can see, but it helps if the mother has decided which one she's comfortable with before the school asks.
The burger place is the most honest detail in this thread. My daughter is only 8 and I suspect it will be the same with her.
0on Eight new girls joined my daughter's class 6 this year. Is class 6 a big entry point now?
That matches what I noticed on admission notices this year. Several schools seem to add a section at class 6, so there are more seats then than in any other middle year. I don't know whether that's the cause or the effect, but it would explain a jump in one year.
4on Our class 10 daughter wants the guest room for herself. My in-laws use it three months a year
Could the cupboard stay theirs? If their things have a fixed place in the room, it still feels partly theirs when they come, even with your daughter's desk in it. She'd have to study at the dining table during their visit, though, and that's not ideal in a board year.
2on Shoe shop near Gachibowli where they measure a child's feet properly?
The paper trick works until about seven, in my experience. After that they have opinions about every shoe, and the cut-out doesn't help with that.
3on Creek Planet School has several campuses. What's different about Neptune in Kukatpally?
Not Creek Planet, but we looked at two campuses of another chain when our daughter started school. Same name, same books, quite a different feel: one was newer with smaller sections, the other had more experienced teachers but was crowded. Visit the one they'll use, ideally with your brother on a video call.
0on What should I be listening for when family praises pre-nursery at Academic Heights, Falaknuma?
The gate is a good point. Also ask who is allowed to collect and what they need for it. Our school wanted a photo card for every adult who picks up, grandparents included, and we found out on the first day.
0on How does KG pick-up work at St. Marys High School, Mehdipatnam? Thinking ahead to 2027
The photo list is exactly how it worked at our daughter's school. We added our caregiver and my father in the first week and it saved us more than once.
1on Registering at five preschools 'to be safe'. Is that what everyone does now?
We registered at three for our daughter and ended up at the first one we'd liked anyway, so two fees were wasted. In hindsight two would have been fine, but at the time it felt like insurance. I'd ask your first choice directly how full last year's batch got, and when.
1on Stadium summer coaching camp or a private academy for a 7 year old?
We did the stadium camp when our daughter was 7. The first week was mostly queues, you're right about that, and a lot of the coaching was aimed at the older children. In the second week the coach split them by age and it improved. Two of her friends did a private academy that summer and got far more attention, but she was the one who came home happy, mostly because half her building was in the same batch.
