Stadium summer coaching camp or a private academy for a 7 year old?

Our daughter wants to do 'a sport' this summer. She doesn't mind which. The summer coaching camp at the sports complex near us runs athletics, basketball and a few others, early mornings, very reasonable, but the batches are large. A private academy in Bachupally does a smaller multi-sport batch for her age at several times the cost. She is 7 and has never done anything organised beyond school PE. My worry with the big camp is that she spends most of the hour waiting in a line. My worry with the academy is that I'm paying for small batches she doesn't need yet. If your child did either at this age, what did they get out of it?

We did the stadium camp when our daughter was 7. The first week was mostly queues, you're right about that, and a lot of the coaching was aimed at the older children. In the second week the coach split them by age and it improved. Two of her friends did a private academy that summer and got far more attention, but she was the one who came home happy, mostly because half her building was in the same batch.

Thank you, the queues are what I was picturing. Did you stay and watch during the first week, or drop her and leave? Grandparents would do some of the mornings and I'd like to tell them what to expect.

Whichever one, check the timings carefully. A 6.30 batch is fine in April. By mid-May, anything that runs past 8 is hard on small children.
